Dogs can be outstanding actors, and there are many films and TV shows in the entertainment industry that make dogs superstars.

So, what are the movies and TV shows with Jack Russell Terriers? Due to their bubbly and adorable personalities, Jack Russell Terriers have been featured in several movies and TV shows. Clean Slate, Beginners, The Mask, The Artist are examples of films featuring Jack Russell Terriers. Wishbone and Fraiser are some examples of Jack Russell Terriers on TV shows.

Let’s find out more details about the appearance of these cute dogs in cinema and television. Also, how popular are they as actors.

What movie has a Jack Russell Terrier?

As mentioned at the beginning of the article, several movies feature Jack Russell Terriers. Here are some famous films where you can find Jack Russell Terriers!

Starting with one of my all-time favorite movies, The Mask. This comedy/fantasy movie came into the theatres in 1994. The story is about a bank clerk named Stanley Ipkiss who discovers a magical mask created by the god Loki.

Wearing the mask, Stanley turns into a green-colored creature, giving him superpowers to do bizarre things. Famous actor Jimmy Carrey plays the role of Stanley, and there’s another important character in the movie, Milo.

Stanley’s friend and the one who brings some joy to his monotonous life. Milo is a Jack Russell Terrier, and he became a fan favorite through this movie. His adorable look and actions couldn’t stop people from falling in love with him.

The real-life pup who played Milo is named Max. Although the Mask wasn’t the biggest hit of Jimmy Carey’s acting career, it turned out to be a massive success to Max the Jack Russell Terrier.

After playing Milo’s role in the movie, Max got a lot of fame. Max also appeared in “Son of the Mask,” “Mom and Dad save the world,” and “Mr. Accident”. According to the internet movie database, Max died in the early 2000s when he was around 13-16 years old.

Directed by French director Michel Hazanavicius, The Artist is a movie that belongs to the romance/drama genre.

The story behind the movie tangles around a famous silent film star named George Valentin falling in love with a young actress named Peppy and how this affects the acting careers of both George and Peppy as they go down the hill.

The Artist is an award-winning movie cast by actors and actresses including Jean Dujardin, Bérénice Bejo, John Goodman, and Penelope Ann Miller.

Uggie is a special character in the film that stoles the audience’s love, and Uggie is a Jack Russell Terrier. He has got so much attention in the industry for his role in this movie.

Uggie was born in 2002, and since a young age, Uggie’s trainer Omar Van Muller trained him for the show industry. In The Artist movie, Uggie’s role as “The dog” was a big hit.

The movie won several Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and more, even Uggie himself won the Palm Dog Award at the Cannes film festival.

Uggie also starred in Mr. Fix It and Water for Elephants. This little movie star died in 2015 at the age of 13.

Another fan-favorite movie, Beginners, is an autobiography done by Mike Millis. The story tells about Oliver, a graphic designer who goes through depression after his father’s death.

Ewan McGregor plays Oliver’s role. Ewan’s Co-star is Cosmo, a cute little Jack Russell Terrier. Oliver had a companion to ease his mind after his father’s death, and that is his father’s dog, Arthur.

Arthur’s character was brought into life by Cosmo the Jack Russell Terrier. After being a part of this movie, Cosmo gained so much popularity. His role in Hotel for Dogs also became pretty famous.

What TV show had a Jack Russell Terrier?

Jack Russell Terriers’ appearance in TV shows was not as much as in movies. But some TV shows feature Jack Russell Terriers. A couple of them are mentioned below.

Wishbone is an American TV show that was quite popular in the latter part of the 1990s. Rick Duffield created this show for children, starring a dog.

The show’s main characters are Joe, his single mom Ellen, and their dog Wishbone. Wishbone plays a leading role throughout the show, and he was indeed a favorite dog star of 90s kids.

Wishbone‘s role was played by Soccer, a Jack Russell Terrier born in 1988, Connecticut, United States. Jackie Martin adopted Soccer, and this adorable-looking Jack Russell Terrier was selected for the role of Wishbone in 1995.

And it is said that Soccer got the part after auditioning around 100 dogs. Soccer died in 2001.

Fraiser is another TV show that features a Jack Russell Terrier. This American sitcom had 11 seasons, and the dog in the show was known as Eddie.

Moose is the original dog who acted as Eddie on television. Born in 1990, Moose is a bubbly little dog raised by his owner Martine Crane. Moose appeared in this show from season 1 to 7.

Moose also appeared in TV commercials and magazine covers as a dog star. He died in 2016.

Are there any famous Jack Russell dog actors?

If you read the article up to this point, I believe you have already figured out answers to this question. Not all dogs who feature in movies or TV shows get a lot of demand as actors.

But we all have to agree that they always win our hearts. Even though not all dogs get equal popularity as actors, some get so much popularity and fame due to their exceptional skills.

Max, Uggie, Cosmo, Soccer, and Moose are some of the many examples of Jack Russell Terriers that gained fame as actors.
